About Us

Classically Protestant

Our church draws its ethos from the greater Reformation heritage. While there have been many developments and offshoots of the Protestant Reformation, we seek to emphasize our catholicity with the best of these traditions, with special reference to our own roots in the Anglo-American experience.

We are a Creedal church as we see ourselves partaking in an ancient faith that permeates deep into the two thousand year experience of Western Christendom. We also take seriously the various confessions and catechisms of the Protestant Reformation, specifically the broader confessions such as the 39 Articles and the Heidelberg catechism.

Our Divine Service liturgy is traditional and incorporates readings, corporate prayers, historic psalms and hymns, and recitation of our confessions and Creeds. We pattern our order of worship with regard to various themes we see in the old and the new testaments and enjoy the Lord’s Supper weekly.

Mission and Congregation

Whitleyville Reformation Church exists to be a beacon of light to the Jackson County, TN region. We seek to take part in Christ’s Great Commission (Matt 28), and to “earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” (Jude 1:3)

We are an independent congregation at the moment, with no denominational affiliation. With a background in the Reformed theological setting, we are prayerfully considering whether God will bring us into formal communion with an association of churches.

In the meantime, and as we grow, we aim to structure ourselves as an independent church, ruled by a leadership board (session or vestry) of both laymen and ordained ministers.

What We Believe

Our theological vision is rooted deeply in the heritage of Christendom. We affirm the great Creeds of the church catholic, and draw deeply from the Confessions of the Reformation.
